nutritious foodSo what exactly do we mean by nutrition??

 

* Nutrition is the means by which the body absorbs food and processes it and as a consequence, new tissues are grown and others replaced. From this statement alone it is clear that eating the wrong types of food or food which is not nutritious, will result in leaving the body in a state of disrepair. Damaged tissues will not be repaired or replaced and hence disease and illness will prevail. In certain cases damaged tissues and organs will as a matter of cause, repair themselves without outside help1.

 

Why is eating breakfast important??

 

* It is said that eating breakfast refuels your body and sets you up for the day ahead. However, people who eat a healthy and nutritious breakfast will have more strength and endurance, have lower levels of cholesterol and more importantly be able to work more productively and have higher levels of concentration up until lunchtime.

Finally, if you don’t believe me then just ask Hippocrates. It was he who said in 400 B.C. “Let food be your medicine and medicine be your food”.

1The liver is a prime example. This is an organ that can repair itself when left to its own devices. Here just stopping the intake of alcohol (which is certainly not classed as nutritious) has a positive effect and as a consequence, regeneration of the liver occurs. Obviously if the transformation of the liver is such that it has gone beyond repair, then it is already too late.
